The RCM Annual Midwifery Awards 2018, an event recognising outstanding achievement in midwifery, was held last week at The Brewery in London. Redactive has been managing the Awards on behalf of the Royal College of Midwives since 2011. The College is a professional organisation dedicated to providing workplace advice, support and guidance to UK midwives.
Last week’s ceremony, hosted by popular TV and radio presenter Charlotte Hawkins, was the biggest one yet, with over 500 midwifery professionals in attendance. In addition to crowning the 2018 winners, for the first time ever, the RCM also awarded Honorary Fellowships at the event. This is the highest honour the RCM Board can award a member and is given to those who have truly advanced the art and science of the profession and been a role model to their peers. David Foster, Chairman of the Lindsay Leg Club Foundation and trustee of the Queen’s Nursing Institute; Gail Johnson, Professional Advisor for Education at RCM; and Rona McCandlish, Director at Rona McCandlish Consulting Ltd, were the three recipients of this prestigious honour.
Suzanne Tyler, Director of Services, RCM, said ‘The RCM awards are one of the highlights of our year and the opportunity for the maternity community to celebrate their hard work and achievements. We couldn’t run these awards and especially the ‘feel good’ awards dinner itself, which has just the right amount of glamour and glitz, without our partners Redactive. They are always professional, have a keen eye for detail and make all members attending feel special and valued. Our guests and VIPs from across government, partner and third sector organisations give us positive feedback about the event and we are sure this helps raise the profile of our organisation.’
